The

Wilderness

Club

The Wilderness Club is a summer camp founded by our Director, Tina Lokai, and our Director of Education, Amanda MacDermid, in the summer of 2014. For years, Tina and Amanda were eager to find a way to share their knowledge and passion for the natural world with all of the wonderful children in their lives. As a result, The Wilderness Club was created; and it has turned out to be everything they hoped and more!

By combining their skill sets and working tirelessly to create extraordinary programs for their campers, Amanda and Tina have successfully become the first and only camp permitted to run in Ringwood State Park, led many exciting hikes, hosted live wildlife presentations, and MUCH more for the past 7 years.

Water covers 71% of our planet, and we believe it is important to understand and observe the incredible creatures that live in the water around us. After all, water is the most precious resource in our world! We will spend most of our time in rivers or streams, analyzing the invertebrates and aquatic life that can be collected and examined. Microscopes will be used to view the microscopic creatures that are too tiny for the naked eye to see. All of the daily activities will take place near or inside the streams at Ringwood State Park. Discussions will be based on the study of water, policies, quality and the diversity of aquatic life.
